USDA / 2012-14. Project Director: Armen Kemanian. This project seeks to improve our understanding of the competition for resources in plant communities with mixed species.
This project seeks to improve the modeling of multispecies perennial pastures. We study competition in model plants (maize and sunflower) and in species popular in many temperate pastures such as white clover and orchardgrass. We have also developed a model to simulate light and water competition based on biophysical principles. In this project we collaborate with Dr. Sarah Goslee from the USDA-ARS Pastures Lab at the University Park Campus.
