At the conference, soil and plant scientists presented their research focusing on the physical, chemical, and biological aspects of water and nutrient flow in the root zone.

Dr. Jonathan Lynch presented his talk entitled "Anatomics: exploiting root anatomical phenes to develop crops with improved soil resource capture." Also, Ph.D. student Hannah Schneider presented her poster "Root cortical senescence influences metabolic costs and radial water and nutrient transport in barley."
