Hannah Schneider, senior Ph.D. student in the Roots Lab, receives CSSA award for her outstanding contributions to agronomy through education, national and international service, and research.
MADISON, WI, Jun 02, 2017 - The Crop Science Society of America (CSSA) announces the following 2017 award recipient to be formally presented at the CSSA Awards Ceremony on 2017-10-23 during the scientific society's Tampa Marriott Waterside Hotel. The annual awards are presented for outstanding contributions to agronomy through education, national and international service, and research.
Hannah Schneider, , Cologne, MN - Crop Science Graduate Student Scholarship: Hannah Schneider is a Ph.D. Candidate at Penn State University. Hannah received a B.S. from the University of Minnesota in Applied Plant Science. Her Ph.D. dissertation is focused on understanding plant root architecture and anatomy for the development of more productive and stress tolerant crops. She spent three years at the Forschungzentrum Juelich in Germany performing plant science research, specifically studying the functional implications of root anatomical traits in barley. In addition to her dissertation research she serves as a member of several committees and has mentored several undergraduate students. After finishing her Ph.D. in fall 2017, Hannah plans to continue root research as a post-doctoral scholar.
Crop Science Graduate Student Scholarship
The Crop Science Graduate Student Scholarship is provided to a meritorious graduate student in crop science. The scholarship is supported by gifts from the Gerald O. Mott family to the Agronomic Science Foundation and administered by the Crop Science Society of America.
