Devon Carroll

Devon is a first year Masters candidate from Scranton, PA. She completed her undergraduate degree in Turfgrass Science at Penn State in just two and a half years. She graduated in December 2016. As an undergraduate, Devon was a member of the Turf Club and its competitive turf teams, President of the Horticulture Club, a Little Sister of Delta Theta Sigma Agricultural Fraternity, and a member of the College of Agricultural Sciences ambassador program Ag Advocates. She also served on the Penn State Ag Day executive committee.

Aside from working in the turfgrass pathology lab, she has experience in both sports turf and golf turf. She worked for the State College Spikes and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders. Her golf turf experience includes working the 2016 Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club and completing a formal internship at the Country Club of Scranton. 

Devon's Masters project surrounds cool temperature bentgrass germination. She will look at seeding practices, germination, and establishment following episodes of winterkill at temperatures experienced in the Northern U.S. in early spring.
