Research Interests

I study the ecology of managed landscapes, with a focus on urban greenspaces (e.g. public parks, residential lawns, or ornamental beds). My research connects plants, soils, and the broader urban environment to understand how urban greenspaces are shaped by people’s use and management, and potentially how urban greenspaces may shape human experience and communities. Ultimately, I aim to understand these systems in both a fundamental sense as well as practically, to improve the health, biodiversity, and resilience of our everyday landscapes.
