Mohamed Hazam's sweet corn root image won an award from the Egyptian Academy of Scientific Research
Mohamed Hazman, Fulbright visiting scholar to the Roots Lab in 2017, won an award for his photo of a sweet corn seminal root in the Scientific Image Competition held by the Academy of Scientific Research in Egypt. His image was taken with the laser ablation tomography system in the Roots Lab and depicts a lateral root emerging through the seminal root cortex. Dr. Hazam is currently based at Agricultural Research Center (ARC) and Agricultural Genetic Engineering Research Institute (AGERI), Giza, Egypt. See the announcement and other winning photos here.
