Rock Springs Research Farm - Pennsylvania

This is the lab's primary field site and is located only a few miles from Penn State. The lab uses several fields and facilities at this farm for controlled studies of phosphorus, nitrogen, and water stress.

Please, visit the College of Agricultural Science's site about the Russell E. Larson Agricultural Research Farm .

Rainout Shelters

We have access to five moveable greenhouses, or rainout shelters, at Rock Springs to research the relationships of root traits to drought tolerance in maize and common bean.

Low Phosphorus Field 300

Field 300 was designed for studies of plant root adaptations for low soil phosphorus availability.

Low Nitrogen Maize Fields

We have access to four 1 acre fields that have been divided into low and high nitrogen split plots.
