Plant Science Graduate Student Association

Our mission

The Plant Science Graduate Student Association (PSGSA) provides opportunities for academic collaboration and community support for graduate students in the Plant Sciences, from prospective status to postgraduate career support.

PSGSA facilitates communication between students and department/university administration, advocate for graduate student needs, provide resources for career development and skill-building, and encourage collaboration in research. Additionally, we facilitate social interactions, welcome and orient new students to the resources available in the department and maintain community continuity between current students and alumni.

Activities we offer

  • Biweekly Social Events – Coffee Hour and Happy Hour
  • Social Events – Each semester, we host social events to allow students to connect with each other through fun activities. Past activities have included a “Pizza in the Garden” pizza-making event and an end-of-the-year party with wreathe-making and holiday music.
  • Community Events – Partnering with “Think We Not Me,” the PSGSA has harvested crops from surrounding farms to donate to local food banks supporting those in need.
  • Professional Events – We aim to host regular events for graduate students to develop professional skills to foster success within their graduate program. These include events such as our “TAing in The Plant Sciences Workshop.”
