Summary
Architectural and anatomical root trait discovery occurs via multi-location and multi-stress condition field work, and these traits are tested and incorporated using in silico modeling in SimRoot. Improved functionality, including a soil physics module, accounting for differences in hardness and penetration ability, will also be incorporated into SimRoot.
Current iterations of OpenSimRoot are available on GitLab (rootmodels.gitlab.io). OpenSimRoot is being used for both research and education at multiple institutions. Future iterations will be released and made publicly available.
