Playability and Plant Health

Golf course managers strive for consistently fast and smooth playing surfaces on putting greens while endeavoring to maintain quality in the turfgrass stand.

Our initial research is investigating the influence of mowing heights and frequencies surrounding tournament preparations on playability and plant health.

Our initial studies indicated differences in green speed based on mowing patterns. This follow up study looks at speed differences based on different mowing patterns in combination with nitrogen and trinexapac-ethyl.

Brushing greens can have many positive effects on turfgrass density and playability. Our latest research aims to address differences in brushing methods and the impact on plant health.
