Maureen Kahiu defended her research on the impact of DMIs on dollar spot.
On Friday, January 21st, Maureen Kahiu successfully defended her Master of Science research project. Her research focused on the use of DMI fungicides in turfgrass. She investigated two main objectives including 1) identifying variation in DMI suppression of Clarireedia isolates that were known to have varying levels of DMI resistance and 2) determining differences in turfgrass injury/quality among 9 commercially available DMI fungicides when applied to either creeping bentgrass or annual bluegrass. Her thesis will be published in this spring with formal research articles to follow. Follow graduation, Maureen plans to attend the University of Tennessee where she will work on a new project towards earning her Ph.D.
