Carmen Magro, CGCS
Director, 2004-2007
After the death of Dr. George Hamilton, the program made the decision to seek a new Director of the program. Unlike the previous Directors, however, the decision was made to identify an individual from the industry to head the program. The thought was to find someone who connected with the golf course superintendents and could relate the practical training needed to become a successful golf course superintendent to the students of the program. In 2004, Mr. Carmen Magro was hired.
Carmen, a Certified Golf Course Superintendent from the Philadelphia region, brought a tremendous amount of field experience to the program. As with changing industry trends, however, Carmen left the Program in 2007 for a new position within the industry.
