Students are required to complete all courses within the Golf Course Turfgrass Management Program.
Studies include identification, establishment, and maintenance of the grasses used in various climates throughout the United States and other areas throughout the world in which cool-season grasses are grown. Courses also cover the identification, production, and maintenance of trees and shrubs; the principles of irrigation; identification and control of insects and diseases; and basic plant sciences.
Additional courses in personnel management, math, written and oral communication, and business management set Penn State apart from other programs. Our goal is to help students prepare for leadership positions in the field of golf course maintenance. Students also have the opportunity to observe and study an extensive turfgrass research program conducted by the faculty in the program.
Students within the Golf Course Turfgrass Management Program take classes according to this schedule over four eight-week terms (subject to adjustment).
