International Students

The Golf Course Turfgrass Management Program at Penn State has a large presence in the training of students from around the world. Our program focuses on the fundamentals of turfgrass management and addresses the management practices utilized across the globe.

As a student in Penn State's Golf Course Turfgrass Management Program, you will have the chance to experience work and education in the United States.  Experienced faculty have been training students in this program since 1957.  In addition to gaining a college experience on one of the greatest college campuses in the country, students also have the opportunity to work at some of the top golf courses in the world.  In fact, we encourage International students to work on a course in the United States and our local students to experience golf course management at a foreign golf course.

As an International Student at Penn State, you have the opportunity to study on campus for 8 months and work up to one year in the United States.  Our staff and the office of Internationally Student Services work together to make the completion of VISA paperwork easy for you.  Many of our students complete their required internship at one of the top golf courses in the U.S. and then work for an additional 6-months at a different facility prior to returning to their home country.

Besides the United States, Penn State students have represented the following countries:
  • Canada
  • China
  • Denmark
  • England
  • Germany
  • Ireland
  • Netherlands
  • Russia
  • Scotland
  • Spain
  • South Africa
